Howler was founded in 2023 by husband-and-wife filmmakers Pete and Floriane Whittaker. After more than a decade in the New Zealand film industry, they’d seen how slow and costly video production could be. They wanted to do things differently.
Today, our permanent team and trusted freelancers share the same drive: to do more with less and make work we’re proud of.
How we work…
We love making films, and we want the process to be enjoyable too: good people, no egos and no unnecessary drama. Every project gets our full attention, whatever the budget.
We’re filmmakers at heart. Alongside our work for clients, we write and produce our own award-winning short films and documentaries through The Horny Owls. That creative drive carries into every brief.
We look for smart ways to make each budget go further, leaving room for the cutdowns, social versions and extra assets that cover more of your marketing plan and keep the work, working for longer.
